The meeting was called to order at 4:33 pm by Carol M, club treasurer in absence of Flora L, club president.
Old Business:
The meeting minutes from last month's campout at Big Bear were approved by Todd A and seconded by Carol M.
New Business:
Carol thanked everyone for doing a much better job of getting payments to her on a more timely basis.
She mentioned she's been busy helping her children with a Halloween Haunt that they've organized and operate in Simi Valley and invited all interested to come and enjoy.
Carol advised the group that she was able to book a 3 day minimum stay at Morro Bay Dunes RV Park for June 2, 3 & 4 (Tuesday - Thursday) in 2020. Anyone interested in additional nights should contact Carol.
Jim B mentioned that some members enjoy staying at additional campgrounds either on the way up to a Weakenders' campout or on the way home, for example, staying at San Simeon State Campground before or after Morro Bay. It was suggested that members interested in additional camping should put the word out to the group with their idea and see if others can join them. This would be true for any campout location.
Carol announced upcoming outings going into next year:
November 1 & 2 the club will be at Flying Flags in Buellton.
December 6 & 7 the club will be at Rancho Jurupa Park, Cottonwood Campsite in Riverside. Saturday evening following dinner, anyone interested can go see the lights at the Mission Inn.
January 10 & 11, 2020 the club is at Canyon RV in Anaheim.
February is currently undecided.
There was a discussion about ideas for a February campout. Last year the club was at El Capitan where there is no community meeting room, no hookups, and it rained. There were mixed feelings about returning there. Carol suggested Tapo Canyon for February where we camped the year before last. Jim B mentioned another campground in Simi Valley, a more wooded area that he's seen. Carol said she was familiar with that campground, it is an area with a transient population who receive services there.
Carol said she would be looking for more mid-week camping opportunities because of the benefits of availability and less expensive.
Martine G reminded the group that even though mid-week camping does have it's advantages it also poses a problem for those in the club who may still work. She suggested mixing some mid-week campouts with weekend campouts.
March 20 & 21 Bakersfield RV Resort
April 17 & 18 Pechanga. Carol reminded everyone that we need to make our own reservations if interested in going. Please advise her of your reservation and site number.
May 1 & 2 Paso Robles RV Ranch & Campground
June 2, 3 & 4 Morro Bay Dunes RV Park
July Dark
August Carol said there is nothing at this point for August and asked for any ideas. Paul B mentioned Jalama Beach. Renee A suggested the possibility of camping at a military base. The problem there is the rules change. Usually, anyone with a military identification can bring on base 2 guests. Renee said she'd look into the possibility of San Onofre and report back to the club. Todd A and Jim B said they would look into some possibilities.
September date to be determined. Carol said there is a change in how we make our reservations at Serrano Campground, Snowberry Loop. We now have to individually make our own reservations, like we did 2 years ago. Carol will advise us at a later date, of the date in March when we need to make our own reservations for September.
Jim B shared with the group that in the past some members have gotten together to take extended trips to locations further away, like the Balloon Festival in Albuquerque NM. Reservations need to be made about a year in advance for something like this.
Paul B mentioned going to Lake Louise and Baniff in Canada in August or September might be a nice idea.
Jim B will look further into some possibilities and forward his findings to Carol to share with the club members that may be interested. Carol suggested anyone else considering this kind of trip that would like company to share with her and she can post it to the club members.
Meeting adjourned at 5:07 pm
