The meeting was called to order at 4:05pm by the President, Jess G.
Old Business: None
Jess stated it had been quite a while since many of us have been able to meet and looking forward, he was hopeful that we would all be able to attend more campouts.
Carol M. said that Ron & Jean S. will not be able to attend any mid-week camp outs as Ron is still working.
Treasurer’s Report:
June 1-3 Morro Bay. Carol said the deposit for Morro Bay has been submitted. This will be our heaviest attended camp out this year so far.
September 10 & 11 Big Bear, Serrano Campground there are 10 signed up.
October 4 & 5 Camp James, Kernville. So far only Jess & Martine G. have signed up. Today, 5/1 was the first day to begin calling to make reservations. Some of the others in our group had not been successful thus far. Jess encouraged others to continue to try if interested. Unfortunately, the only way to make reservations is to call them, you cannot register online
.
November 2 & 3 Flying Flags. Carol has reserved the club house.
Looking forward, the first 3 months of next year we should consider the same places we have been unless there are any other suggestions. Carol is trying to make it an easy transition for the next Treasurer coming in to take her place.
January 2022 – Canyon RV in Anaheim
February 2022 – Tapo Canyon in Simi Valley
March 2022 – Bakersfield RV Resort in Bakersfield
Carol advised the group the club’s checking account balance was $5600. This will be reduced by $1200. when she pays for this campout in Paso, making the balance $4400. She anticipates the year end balance to be about $2700. which is a good, safe amount to have in the account.
Jess reminded everyone that elections will be held next month at Morro Bay because of the large number of campers we will have in attendance. Carol has held the position of Treasurer for over 4 years now, exceeding the 2 years as stated in the bylaws. He and the rest of us thanked her for all her hard work.
New Business: Jim B. asked if anyone would be interested in attending the hot air Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, NM October 2 – 10, 2021. He and some others in the group have attended in the past and it is a wonderful experience with much activity day and night. He suggested staying maybe 3 days and there is plenty to see and enjoy on the way to and returning home from NM. Cost is $200 for the week, whether you stay 2 days or all 7 days. This is dry camping. Running a generator is okay. You can Google Balloon Fiesta for schedule. A show of hands indicated 8 would be interested in attending. Jim said he would investigate and report back to the club at our next campout at Morro Bay in June, then a decision can be made before canceling Camp James in October.
Jim B. mentioned Washburn at San Simeon is nice camping, large sites. Book through Reserve America.
Linda N. suggested the possibility of using something like a Venmo App when making a payment to the Club Treasurer for a future campout instead of writing a check. There was some discussion on how this would work within the club: your email address is your account name so your identity is obvious, treasurer would know who is attending and paid; club account may have to be changed because it is a “club”; VPN suggested for added security…. Carol will investigate and report back to the club at Morro Bay.
There was a brief discussion about different insurance companies because members have had insurance rate increases on Home, Auto, RV policies. Carol mentioned a new company she is heard about “Lemon Aid”.
Rex L. informed the group that dinner would be at 6pm. The group thanked Rex & Flora for hosting.
The meeting adjourned at 4:47pm.
Regards,
Martine G., Secretary
